Christmas 2010 Part 2

So then last Monday was Tristen's first day of daycare since he was 4 months old. We walked in and I was very surprised on how calm he was. He just looked around at everything and sat down in a chair and waiting patiently while breakfast was being made. I gave him a hug and a kiss and I left. As I was walking out the door, I was hoping that he wouldn't start running after me wanting to go with me. I don't think I could have handled that. But he didn't run after me and that made me feel so much better. I was really proud of myself I didn't shed a tear because I was afraid I was going to bust into tears in my car. When I dropped him off for his first day at daycare when he was 3 months old I had to pretty much run out of there because I could feel the tears coming. By the time I got to my car I was bawling like a baby. I called Brent so he could settled me down a bit. I freaked him out because I was crying so much I couldn't talk and he thought something really really bad had happened. Looking back on this now, I am chuckling to myself but in that moment it was no laughing matter. I went off to work and Tristen was fine the whole day but I secretly checked my cell phone about a 100 times to make sure they didn't call me.

The next Tuesday, I gave the boys choices on what activities they wanted to do on which day. So for this day we built a gingerbread house together. I had never built a gingerbread house before and to my surprise it wasn't too easy. But here are some pictures......

I wish I had a picture of the house we made once it was all done but we put the final touches on it and the house fell apart and crumbled together. We had fun though just spending time together.

Then the next day the boys wanted to make cookies and desserts. So we made nutter butter reindeer except I told them if they didn't want to do reindeer faces they could do whatever they wanted. Well, got some very interesting cookies....

Tristen also joined in on the fun...

I also was determined to learn how to make cake balls. I had someone give me some cake balls that they had made at their bakery and they were delicious. So I looked up the recipe and I got busy with making them. The first recipe left out several important steps so my first batch didn't come out too well. I looked up another recipe this time from Paula Dean (you can't wrong with her) and the cake balls came out beautifully. I was so proud of myself and I must say the cake balls are addicting. I will save this recipe for only very special occasions, otherwise I will never lose any weight that I want to lose. LOL!!

The following day I had the boys decoupage frames for their mom and step dad and also domino magnets for family. They loved making gifts and this something I think we will do again next year. I did learn something this week from Ryan, he told me "Tammy, I really don't like to do all this Christmas crafty stuff, I really just like watching everyone else do it and eat the treats later." I thought that it was pretty funny and I was ok with that. I let him join in when he wanted but I did not make him do it if he didn't want to.

So here are some of the frames they made:

Hayden made this one for his mom

Jordan made this one for his mom

Ryan made 1 frame for both his mom and step dad:
